Why I Built My Brand???
I have the desire to coach nurses because I didn’t have a blueprint entering into the entrepreneurial space. There was no one I could call to ask how to appropriately set up my business as a new entrepreneur after working as a hospital employee for 12 years.
I’m passionate about helping nurses transition from the bedside to becoming an entrepreneur because I know first hand how undervalued and unappreciated we are. To the hospital administration, we are just an abled body and number working day to day and most importantly, replaceable. There is no return on investment for our years of working countless hours away from family, working in unsafe working conditions like inappropriate nurse to patient staff ratios and inadequate staffing, and more recently, they have wanted to capped our pay.
I work with nurses because I am an nurse and I remember how I felt working as a bedside registered nurse (RN) for 12 years. I remember how much I use to complain to my family. I went back to school for my nurse practitioner certification after being a nurse for eight years as this was my way of trying to escape some of the political issues I experienced working at the bedside. Then after obtaining my nurse practitioner certification, I remembered saying, “ man, this didn’t change anything”. I later realized my higher degree and new certification only made me experience new challenges on a higher level up the chain. Even in my later role of working as nurse practitioner at the bedside, I still felt unappreciated and unvalued, no longer from the hospital administration, but from the doctors who I worked with who were now my colleagues but still treated us as if we had to take orders from them. I want to let nurses know there is an outlet, there is a way out. I want you all to know you don’t have to tolerate being mistreated and if you want to, you can make just much money as the CEO of the hospital by being your own boss.
